DECISION: The Wednesday Word of the Week #WednesdayWisdom

DECISION: The Wednesday Word of the Week #WednesdayWisdom

Decision time!!!  Welcome to the Wednesday Word of the week!  Every single Wednesday I’m going to deliver a different word of the week.  Why am i doing this?  I’m gonna tell you the first lesson I learned from my boss and my mentor Grant Cardone:

Selling is a conversation and power comes from the words that you use

So understanding words, understanding how to use them, when to use them, when not to use them and what they mean is incredibly important.

What we’re going do:

Every Wednesday morning, I’m popping up here and I’m going to deliver a different word to you to take with you over the next seven days.  I’ve got over 107 already selected and we’re going to go through them every single Wednesday.
So you’ve got basically a hundred and seven weeks right now of words to focus on, to use, to leverage, to take with you into your career, in your day and in your life
I want you to use these words not just to sell more but to live more, live better, create more and have a better experience while you’re here on planet Earth.

Also is there a word you would like me to cover?

You let me know if there’s a word you want me to cover and we’ll add it to the list or
we’ll do it next, okay?
The process of this is going to be very simple.  First, I’m going to deliver the word.  Second, I’m going to go over the definition of it, I might cover the etymology of it (where it
came from) and then we’ll talk a little bit about it from my point of view.

Now today’s word is: Decision

I can’t think of a better word to start this with because I’ve made a decision to do this…
decision definition
So let’s just talk about decision.  Everything that has happened in your life up to this point is a direct result of the decisions that you have made and that also means that everything that is going to happen to you moving forward will be a direct result of the decisions that you will make.

Now, let’s just talk about some of the decisions that you’re making right now that you may not even be aware of.

  • When you wake up in the morning you’re going to decide what kind of day you’re going to have
  • When you go to bed at night you’re gonna decide what kind of day you had
  • When you meet a customer, if you’re in sales you decide what kind of experience you’re gonna have with that customer and you also decide what kind of experience they’re going to have
Every moment in your life, every single moment you’re having thoughts… all kinds of thoughts and you make decisions about the thoughts.  What do these thoughts mean?  You make a decision on that and then you decide what to do about it.
Everything that’s happening to you right now is a direct result of the decisions you’re making.   This is the good stuff, this is the bad stuff.  Look, nobody “decides” to get cancer but people get it all the time.   What they do decide though is what they’re going do about it.  How they’re gonna respond to it, right?  How they’re going to treat themselves.

These are decisions.

There’s two people that can get in the exact same condition or be in the exact same situation, whether that’s a flat tire or a life-threatening illness but what they do about it, what they decide to do about is a choice you’re going have to make.
Everyone is gonna be a victim at some point.  Something’s going to happen.  You’re going to get beat up or something worse .  That’s gonna happen can you can’t get around it.  At some point you will be a victim of something like a car accident or (hopefully not) something worse. You will be a victim.

The question is are you going to stay a victim?

That’s the decision that you make.
So here’s the plan:  What I’d like you to do for yourself, for the next week, for the next seven days between now and the next time we drop a Wednesday Word…

ONE:  Spend some real time becoming very aware of the decisions that you’re making moment by moment.  Start having some real awareness of the decisions your constantly making.  This is going to have a huge impact on your life.

TWO:  Start thinking about decisions that you have already made that may not be serving you anymore.  In fact it might make sense to make a list of some of the decisions you made in the past that are not serving you in your present.  (And that could be about anything.  Could be about life, could be about money, could be about sales, it could be about a situation you’re in, a relationship you’re in.)  What decisions have you made that about that situation that is not helping you anymore or serving you at all?  Maybe it was serving you at one point but not anymore.

THREE:  If you want to continue to grow and expand okay you’re going to have to make new decisions and those new decisions are gonna have to be different than the old ones, right?

We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.

-Albert Einstein

You’re going to have to make some new decisions.  Start thinking about decisions you’ve made that aren’t helping you and how can we rewrite these decisions?   Can we make new ones?  Absolutely, but then the next thing you have to do is reinforce those so that the old ones that you made don’t creep back in… okay?

What questions do you have about decisions?  How can I help?
