Great Salespeople over promise and over deliver

The GREAT salespeople promise their clients a lot and then over deliver on what they promise.  Do you remember the old saying, “under promise and over deliver?”  The GREAT salespeople don’t subscribe to this idea.

The GREAT salespeople know that you have to OVER promise AND over deliver.  The GREATS are after exceptional.  They look to commit big and deliver even bigger!

This is what it takes to be GREAT.

  • Make big claims.
  • Let people know you’re the best
  • Tell people you’re the cheapest
  • Speak to people that you have the superior product
  • Proclaim to people you’re the most affordable

“Even,” Grant says, “if you’re not the lowest price.”  Grant continues, “if your product is superior, then you are the lowest price, despite what that number is.”

Action Idea:  Make sure you fully understand what Grant means here.  Fully understanding this concept and then living by it will be worth millions to you and your company.

Make giant claims about your offer, your company, your self, your product and avoid saying things like “we’re competitive” and “we’re as good as anyone else.”

You want to be superior.  Who would you rather buy from?  Don’t you want an exceptional experience when you buy something?  Don’t you feel a little cheated when you go out for a nice dinner and have an average server or when you buy a big ticket item and no one seems as interested in it as you?  Do you want your clients to feel like that?  Of course not.
