Verizon management jobs slashed
This week in the news, the AP has been reporting that Verizon is slashing 10,400 jobs. People got extremely concerned about it because that’s about 7 percent of its global workforce. But maybe we should consider the following: Is that really such a bad thing?
In reality, Verizon management employees accepted voluntary buyout deals, out of 44,000 who were eligible.
There’s a couple of reasons for that. The severance package was generous. Three weeks of pay for each year of service. But there’s a bigger factor at play…
The unemployment rate is 3.7%. Workers figure they have a good chance of taking the money and finding another job.
In fact, more workers are quitting their jobs than ever before.
Grant Cardone has always said, “Respect yourself enough to walk away from anything that no longer serves you, grows you or makes you happy.”
And it seems people are doing this…
