INTRO:

Today we go deep.  Today I am going to ask you to question your very own reality.  Last week we did “self”.  Last week we asked the age old questions…  Who are you?  What makes you, you?  When did you first come into being?  Where are you?  How are you?  This week we look at our connection to and our place in the universe.

WORD: Intention  (noun)

DEFINITION of Intention:

  • a thing intended; an aim or plan.”she was full of good intentions”
  • the action or fact of intending.”intention is just one of the factors that will be considered”
  • a person’s designs, especially a man’s, in respect to marriage. plural noun: someone’s intentions “if his intentions aren’t honorable, I never want to see him again”
  • From Wikipedia, “Intention is a mental state that represents a commitment to carrying out an action or actions in the future. Intention involves mental activities such as planning and forethought”
  • “Sir, my intention is to close a deal with you today.”

“Intent is a force that exists in the universe. When sorcerers (those who live of the Source) beckon intent, it comes to them and sets up the path for attainment, which means that sorcerers always accomplish what they set out to do.”

-Carlos Castaneda

ETYMOLOGY of Intention:

late Middle English: from Old French entencion, from Latin intentio(n- ) ‘stretching, purpose’, from intendere (see intend).

“purpose,” early 13c., from Old French entent, entente “goal, end, aim, purpose; attention, application,” and directly from Latin intentus “a stretching out,” in Late Latin “intention, purpose,” noun use of past participle of intendere “stretch out, lean toward, strain,” literally “to stretch out” (see intend). In law, “state of mind with respect to intelligent volition” (17c.).

late 14c., “very attentive, eager,” from Latin intentus “attentive, eager, waiting, strained,” past participle of intendere “to strain, stretch” (see intend). Sense of “having the mind fixed (upon something)” is from c. 1600. Related: Intently.

Intention:  The Wednesday Word ACTION IDEAS:

So if “intent is a force, that exists in the universe” then how are you connecting to and using this force that exists?  Star Wars anyone?  [think about it for a second] What are your intentions?  Your life, is it happening to you or because of you?  Which would you prefer?  Are you creating your reality or reacting to someone else’s?  Again, which would you prefer?

Let’s go back “intent is a force” and let’s get that definition of the force from Star Wars, “The Force is what gives a Jedi his power. It’s an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us; it binds the galaxy together.”  Is there such a thing in our present moment and in this galaxy not so far, far, away and if so can you connect with it, establish a relationship with it and harmonize with it so that you are creating your reality instead of reacting to someone else’s?
