Gratitude: The Wednesday Word #WednesdayWisdom
WORD: Gratitude (noun)
Also, would you consider that this word is also a type of energy?
Remember when we did the word ENERGY? In PHYSICS the definition was: the property of matter and radiation which is manifest as a capacity to perform work (such as causing motion or the interaction of molecules). As we progress through definition and etymology of Gratitude today, think about how in addition to being a noun, it is also a form of energy…
Gratitude is not an attitude. Gratitude is something that flows out of you when you are overwhelmed by the recognition of what you have received.” -Sadhguru
DEFINITION of Gratitude:
the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.
ETYMOLOGY of Gratitude :
late Middle English: from Old French, or from medieval Latin gratitudo, from Latin gratus ‘pleasing, thankful’. Gratus is also the root of related terms such as grace, gratuity and gratis, all signifying positive moods, actions and ideas
Gratitude: The Wednesday Word ACTION IDEAS:
The Gratitude 12 Challenge – This week, and then hopefully forever, schedule out two times during the day. Once in the AM and once in the PM to take 4-6 minutes and jot down your gratitude twelve. This will be broken out into 3 parts. 4 things you’re grateful for from your past, 4 from your present and 4 from your future. You should also do this anytime you find yourself discouraged, distracted or have a setback.
Can you be grateful for it all?
The good, the bad and the ugly? Challenging right? Because this means that you have to be grateful for all of it. The good, the bad and the ugly. The wonderful and the horrific. All 3 of these have made you who you are and believe me when I tell you, you are absolutely wonderfully radiant as you are right now. Not buts. Even if yours is too big, you’re made in the image of God. God is perfect right? So are you. Follow…?
Lastly, if you get out of it what you put into it then you also get in what you put out. So be VERY aware of the energy you’re radiating. What do you think will return if you’re putting out the energy of gratitude?
