Responsibility: The Wednesday Word ACTION IDEAS:
Definition of response: a verbal or written answer; a reaction to something; something offered in return.
Definition of ability: possession of the means or skill to do something; talent, skill, or proficiency in a particular area.
QUESTION:
To what degree are you response able? We as humans we have the unique and innate ability to select our response. Most of the animal kingdom operates on instinct yet humans have evolved a level of self-awareness that enables us to make a decision about how we will respond. So I ask again, to what degree are you response able? No one has ever MADE you do anything. You chose that response. So if your ability at responding is subpar guess what else will be too? Your responses. Split seconds where YOU are aware of your surroundings, you observe, you make a decision and then you decide. You choose your response and hold yourself accountable and you take ownership of the consequences.
BOTTOM LINE:
No one is a victim unless they chose to be. Being a victim and staying a victim are very separate things. One is a moment in time, the other is a choice. Everything that exists in your life is a consequence of how you’ve chosen to respond to external stimuli. The 10X Rule teaches us to assume control for everything. Take responsibility and ownership for the conditions of your life. The opposite of responsibility is blame. And speaking of The 10X Rule, Blame is the energy that makes slaves. That would make you a person who is excessively dependent upon or controlled by something or someone. A slave. If you’re not working on your responsibility daily, you’re just a slave.
As long as you are alive, you will either live to accomplish your own goals and dreams or be used as a resource to accomplish someone else’s.”
