The GREAT Salespeople never lower their targets. Instead, they increase their activity.
When you have a target and whether that target came from you or someone else, do not lower that target! Period!
Instead, RAISE your activity level. Lowering the target is opening the door to mediocrity. What happened to those targets you had as a kid? What happened to those high ambitions? Who talked you out of those? Which person talked you into doing less? Was there someone who talked you into thinking small? Keep the target high and reach for something greater!

Great people, great salespeople, great managers, great leaders, don’t lower targets. They would rather keep the target up high (or even raise it) and then push the activity level up to match it. Let’s say you don’t hit it? Let’s say you get close. Are you better off coming close than if you lowered the original target and just hit that??? You will fare far better by setting a high target that you almost hit then setting a low target that you hit with ease.
No growth happens from easy. Grant says this, “Never lower your target – it’s unethical and the GREATS know that!”
