5 Growth Tips from Learn To Lead’s Dave Anderson
I’m about to pass on some tough love on to you that I received from one of our Cardone University Experts, Dave Anderson. Dave’s mission is to provide the tools and inspiration our clients need to reach their personal and corporate potential. We are so very lucky to have him as one of our experts and Dave’s attitude and mindset is a perfect companion to Grant’s content and training.
While the Twitter can be an over polluted cesspool of vitriol and a digital representation of what is wrong with our society, it can also be a source of great wisdom, knowledge, human interaction and sometimes right when you need it, the most a perfectly timed punch in the face of tough love!
I saw this 5 part tweet from Dave and it showed up precisely on time for me and I knew that I needed to make sure this gets some additional attention. These are words that need to be spread. Dave was sharing it with a college basketball team he works with, then he shared it on Twitter and now I’m sharing it with you, so you know what that means? It means I need you to share this out too because there’s someone out there that NEEDS these 5 growth tips and when you share it, you may very well change or even save a life.
ATTENTION SALES MANAGERS: This 5 tips will make for a killer sale meeting…. Just saying.

1. Don’t wish it were easier, wish you were better. (Jim Rohn, entrepreneur, author and motivational speaker)
Part 1:
Yesterday, I texted 5 growth points to a college team I work with, following their first week of practice. They apply to more than basketball:

2. If it’s important to you you’ll find a way, if it’s not you’ll find an excuse. Excuses are the DNA of underachievers. They make you common, miserable & weak.
3. If you’re just in it for yourself you’re in a very small business. Get over yourself. Everyone else has.

4. Being late is the arrogant choice. It breaks commitments & trust. If others can’t count on you they’ll eventually not need you at all.
5. If all you do is what’s required of you, you’ll suck. Baseline people live baseline lives.

5 Questions and Challenges To Ask Yourself
- Question: What’s the one thing you know you need to get better at right now? Challenge: Start getting better at that thing right now. Study, Practice, Drill, Rehearse. Start now.
- Question: What’s an important goal or target you have? Now, what’s the biggest excuse you’re making right up now that you’re using to not hit it? Challenge: What would you have to do if you couldn’t use that excuse anymore? Now, find the way.
- Question: Who or what beyond you are you doing this for? Challenge: If you don’t have a cause or purpose, find one. Today.
- Question: How often are you late? Challenge: What do you need to change or let go of in order for you to be early to everything?
- Question: How often do you suck? Challenge: Start the habit of being in a constant state of looking for how to go the extra mile and then execute on it.
Growth Tips Wrap Up
Remember, these are growth tips. And since we’re throwing out reminders here, if you’re not growing, what are you doing? Opposites of growth are shrinking and withering. And the end result of whither is death. So are you going to grow today or are you dying today? Growth can be painful. Growth can be hard. How does a plant push through the soil and reach for the sun? Growth is a process or daily actions that put you out of your comfort zone.
Remember the words of your Uncle G, “Most people are dying at 20 and making it official at 80.” If you want to live you have to grow.
