FROM THE DESK OF GRANT CARDONE: Everybody asks me, “How do you get so much done, man, how do you balance life and work?” I Don’t even attempt to. What I do is this, I put “Grant” in the middle of a piece of paper and everything goes around me. The king is first—I’m selfish, I’m greedy because I spend most of my time on my own personal self-improvement. I’m on study every day, and the people in my life need to support what I do. I don’t have a job, I don’t have a career, I don’t even have a business—I have a life, and I’m doing my life. I’m not doing a video, I’m not going to work, I’m doing my life. Do you get it? I’m not trying to juggle.

HOW IMPORTANT IS IT TO GET ATTENTION IN SALES?
It’s everything—you have to get attention. It may be ugly, it could be edgy, it probably will be stupid, and you’re certainly going to get criticism. But if you don’t get attention, you won’t sell, period.
WHAT DO YOU DO TO DEVELOP A MINDSET AND ACTUALLY START TO THINK AND ACTUALLY DO BIGGER?
I read. I read constantly and I only study a handful of people. Also, I don’t read 50 books, I read a couple of people. And I only read or study people that I want to emulate. Elon Musk is a guy I would love to emulate. And the internet has made so many people available that sometimes people just get this, that, that and this, and then all of a sudden I’m like, “I don’t know what to do.”Too much information is confusing, so pick and choose wisely.
WHAT ARE THE TOPICS YOU ARE STUDYING THE MOST?
It goes in spurts, I change. It depends on where I am in my life and what I’m trying to learn. Right now, I’m doing a lot of research about the stock market, because I want to be ready when this thing blows up.
WHAT IS THAT ONE THING YOU NEED TO GIVE UP TO BECOME RUTHLESS?
You need to start telling people the truth around you. You need to tell your mom if she is negative about everything, “You’ve got to quit telling me this, quit telling me I can’t. Quit telling me I shouldn’t.” Years ago I actually wrote a series of questions and the answers, sat down with my mom, and said, “Read the answers as I ask.” So I began, “Hey mom, you think I should invest in real estate? Read.” “Grant, you will be successful at anything you do and I support you 100%.”
WHAT ARE 3 UNCOMFORTABLE DISCIPLINES THAT YOU’VE PRACTICED THAT HAVE PRODUCED THE MOST IN YOUR LIFE?
I am an extremely disciplined person. I show up for work every day. If I don’t feel good, I show up. No matter what, I show up. Number two, and Elena will tell you, I have almost zero attention on how something looks. I produce a lot of content and I don’t put a lot of significance on the production. I push it out and then I pay attention to it later. The third thing is I go extremely fast at everything. I go as fast as I can.
